NPL are proud to be the Northern Ireland agent for Kundig Limited.
Founded in 1945 it has become one of the principal manufacturers of sanding machines worldwide. Produced in Switzerland, Kundig machines offer easy to use widebelt and edge sanding solutions. The user-friendly operation panel provides familiar control elements and quick- start buttons that store complex instructions allowing for ease of repeating sanding operations.
Studies have found that Kundig machines can help the average workshop save 10-15% on electrical energy. This is due to their eco* energy saving mode which is now fitted as standard in all of their widebelt sanders. This system checks the required electrical energy and will start a current saving function after a short period if no workpieces are being processed. This does not affect the work performance.
Kundig widebelt sanding machines have a working width of 400mm to 2200mm and are available in three different models; Premium, Brilliant and Technic.
Premium widebelt sanding machines offer high quality and precision, with a combination of leading technology and ease of operation. They are especially suited for calibrating of solid wood and panels, finishing of solid wood and veneers, and lacquer sanding.
Brilliant widebelt sanding machines offer the quality features of the Premium model range as well as at least one pivotable sanding unit (oblique sanding unit). They are especially suited for surfaces of cross-bonded workpieces (wood windows, doors etc) and high-gloss lacquers.
Technic widebelt sanding machines are for special purposes, such as
Kundig offers leading technology in their Oblique sanding unit. This was by the KUNDIG AG, and can be used either in the conventional parallel direction and can also be pivoted for oblique sanding. As a result perfect sanding can be achieved even when sanding belts suffer small damages and grit outbreaks. This is because the pivoted sanding head shifts the defects on the belt slightly sideward during each rotation. This system also increases the lifetime of the sanding belts, and reduces power consumption.
At the American woodworking show (IWF, Atlanta, USA) the oblique sanding technique was honoured with the 'Challenger Award'.
For edge sanding Kundig offers Kundig Uniq. A cast iron working table is on one side for the solid wood sanding as well as a similar one for veneer sanding on the other. Motorised height adjustment and the tilting of the abrasive belt provide ease of use and do not require adjustment of the working tables. The adjustable height and use of abrasive belts allows for work with straight or bevelled, veneered or solid edges.
